FADU Marks Initial Success
of 'FlexSSD' Business with MOU Agreement with Leading Global SSD Company
ADATA - Collaboration with ADATA, Second-Largest Global SSD
Company, Anticipated to Broaden FADU’s Customer Base - Joint development of Next-generation SSDs, Starting
with Gen5 and Expanding to Gen6 and Beyond |
(2025-04-14) FADU
(CEO Nam Ehyun & Lee Jihyo), a leading semiconductor company specializing
in data center solutions, announced today the signing of a strategic Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) with ADATA, a global leader in solid-state drive (SSD)
modules based in Taiwan. This partnership marks a significant milestone for
FADU’s newly launched Flex SSD™ business model.
This collaboration
marks the first major partnership for FADU's new customer-tailored solution
business model, 'Flex SSD™,' which the company is launching this year. The MOU
signing ceremony took place on the 2nd of April at ADATA's headquarters in
Taipei, Taiwan, with the attendance of Nam Heyen, CEO and Chief Technology
Officer (CTO) of FADU, and Simon Chen, Chairman of ADATA.
FADU's 'FlexSSD',
initiated this year, is an innovative business model that allows customers to
customize and manufacture SSDs tailored to their specific needs. It is
characterized by offering a flexible collaboration model, ranging from complete
product supply to joint development, depending on the customer's capabilities
and requirements. FADU brings its expertise in SSD controller design, firmware
development, and manufacturing technology to the table, enabling customers to
rapidly and reliably produce their own branded products.
ADATA ranks as the
second-largest entity in the global industrial and consumer SSD module sector,
boasting a robust production infrastructure and an expansive global
distribution network. This strategic partnership with FADU is particularly
significant as it positions ADATA to bolster its competitive edge within the
enterprise SSD market, extending its reach beyond its established leadership in
the consumer SSD segment. FADU is set to provide comprehensive technical
support and solutions to facilitate ADATA's expansion of its distinct market
dominance in the enterprise SSD market.
The partnership
between the two companies will proceed in stages. Initially, FADU will support
the development of enterprise SSD products based on its technology and
manufacturing capabilities. This will enable ADATA to quickly establish its
product lineup and accelerate its market entry. In the subsequent stage, when
ADATA enters direct product mass production, FADU will transfer its mass
production technology and know-how to help build stable production
capabilities. In the final stage, FADU plans to provide support for
strengthening ADATA's own technological capabilities through technical
consultation and joint development based on FADU's platform technology.
With this
collaboration, FADU is expected to expand the Controller business in a way that
creates a pathway to higher profitability. The shift of the business focus from
SSD Modules to Controllers pertaining to the customers will bring less burdens
on working capital and lead to secure stable, long-term customers.
The collaboration begins with Triple-Level Cell (TLC)-based Gen5 enterprise SSDs and will expand into Quad-Level Cell (QLC)-based SSDs and next-generation Gen6 products. This phased approach aims to secure technological leadership and market dominance in the rapidly evolving SSD industry.
Tony Kim, Chief
Business Officer (CBO) of FADU, emphasized the strategic importance of this
partnership and stated, “This MOU is not just about short-term market expansion
but about building a stable customer base for long-term growth. Through our
FlexSSD solution, we aim to enhance our customers’ competitiveness while
fostering a sustainable win-win ecosystem”.
